ABOUT

As a child, NES and SNES was my life because my friend had an Amiga 500 and a game on that required about 50 floppy disks. When one was missing or broken, I got angry, cried a little and then went home to my Nintendo instead. But the years passed and the day my father came home with a new computer with a 100 MHz Pentium processor that cost him half a fortune, my eyes were opened for the first time. Although it took half a day to start the computer, I will never forget the startup of Quake for the first time.
Even though I had previously played games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, it was Quake which really made me love a game for the first time.

That's when my interest in computers really began. At that time there was no internet either, or it was new and the purpose of the internet was then to check news and chat with other people, at least that was the case for me. The internet was also tough and expensive, with each passing minute it became more and more expensive and with each passing minute my dear mother became more and more noisy from the kitchen.
Because the time I could spend on the internet was so limited, I had to find new ways to entertain myself and that was when I started to get interested in creating my own environments for the games I loved to play. I started by creating player skins for Quake, but gave up pretty quickly because it ended up with the owner of a local internet cafe banned me for a week because I had installed all my skins on his computers.
It was then the worst week of my life. A short time later I came across the level editor Qoole for Quake. It was just to start learning, step by step, there were no guides. All that was needed was time and commitment and it was something I had in abundance in my youth.

Time passed and suddenly it happened, Quake II came out... the game which shaped me for 14 years to who I am today. Quake II will always have a big place in my heart, the best gaming years of my life. I lost a lot against my idols "Clan [9]" in the beginning but since I never gave up I started to win more and more it ended up that I played for the Swedish national team for many years and won many prizes.
During my Quake II years, another game also appeared or a modification to a game called Counter-Strike!
Oh boy! Sometimes it felt like I finished one game and went straight to another, weapons went from Rocket Launcher and Railgun to AK-47 and M4A1. A new love was found even though it could never replace my first.

With CS, a new level editor stepped into my life and is still with me today and that's Hammer!
I started as before, step by step and learned to make my first maps. I joined a CS clan and made my first aim_ maps for them. With CS also came new idols, of course HeatoN and Potti were the ones I looked up to and even though I became pretty good at CS I did not get up to their level because Quake II took all my time and my focus became only on level design for CS. I started following my idols' journey via the computer and I cheered them on during the tournaments and competitions that existed at that time.

One day I discovered that the CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League) used two custom maps during their tournament... that day would change my life forever. As a young boy from Sweden with a big dream, I immediately understood that I would not have a chance against the giants on the other side of the Atlantic.
But even if I thought so, I have always been a person who never gives up and who always motivates myself to succeed. So in a classic random way, I went to CPL's website, clicked on contacts and picked the first best email and simply asked if they could imagine having more custom maps.
I think it took two days and then I got an answer, it said: "Absolutely, if it is good!".

I could not believe my eyes, even though the chance was very small, I accepted their challenge. I started wearing a piece of paper and a pencil on me so I would always be ready if new ideas for a layout would appear. Two months later and my new map was done, it was my third de_ map ever and choosing a name can sometimes be difficult but since the game was called Counter-Strike, I thought a name like "Strike" was appropriate. I sent them my map and then I could only wait. Every day that passed I checked my email and after about a week it happened... I got an answer! It said: "We like your map but we have managed to find a small bug, a flash grenade can be thrown out through a ceiling light, can you fix it?"

What, wait... what? They like my map!? I could not believe it! I fixed the bug and sent it again and a few days later it was included, "de_cpl_strike" was now not just any map, it was an official CPL map!
A couple of years went by and then I was contacted by an old Quake II player that I had known for a long time. He now worked for DreamHack and they wondered if they could use my map. CPL had gone bankrupt at this time and even though the map contained their logo, it was allowed to be used. But out of respect for them and since I was not completely happy with B-bombsite, I changed the map a bit, removed their logos and released it under a new name, Mirage! The rest is history, Mirage is the most played CS:GO map of all time.

Since Mirage became an official CS:GO map I have had three more maps in the game via various Operations.

What started as a great interest developed into a profession, I feel very lucky but I know that hard work and work with the right people is the key to success.

When I am not working I spend time with my family, we live on a small farm with our three dogs, 10 chickens and a lucky rooster. I also love freshwater aquariums, fish like Cichlids and Discus have a big place in my heart. Motorsport is also a great passion, I have ridden a lot of sportbikes so "MotoGP" is the favorite but also "Formula 1" is something I follow. I also run a photo studio, I have built one in my barn so I have worked as a photographer for many years, mountain biking, Discgolf and old Volvo cars are also an interest.
